Makeup Meets Skincare #1: Celeb MUA and Aesthetician Wei Lang

Makeup Meets Skincare #1: Celeb MUA and Aesthetician Wei Lang

For your best beauty and maximum impact, New York-based makeup artist and licensed aesthetician Wei Lang knows that cosmetics and skincare act as loyal beauty partners (or should do.)

Specializing in in-person events, Wei Lang’s work appears on all the best red carpets on the likes of producer and actor Trudie Styler, actor Mickey Sumner (of the TNT series Snowpiercer), and singer Patti Springsteen.

“By their very nature, in-person appearances can be the most unforgiving for the celebrity simply because no matter how well organized, there’s always chaos. You can’t control the lights, you can’t control the crowds and you’re being photographed from all sorts of potentially unflattering angles,” she notes.

“I realized early on,” Wei remembers, “that the best way for red carpet makeup to look its best is for the skin itself to be at its best. There are a lot of tricks I can do to minimize flaws but nothing beats a clear, healthy complexion as a starting point.”

To this end, Wei went back to school and earned her professional aesthetician’s license in 2007 so she could offer her clients tailored comprehensive treatments tailored. From 2007 to 2013 she ran her own spa in Soho and built loyal following all through word of mouth while still doing bespoke makeup application.

Today, Wei travels with her makeup kits to her clients’ places or event locations. She also performs complete, mobile spa services–her signature is her 45 minute treatment facial that includes microdermabrasion and dermaplaning that leave the skin glowing–at the homes of a very select and loyal few.

Enter Mineral Air

Wei counts herself as a loyal Mineral Air fan because it delivers a translucent quality but can still make flaws disappear. Its camouflaging ability also means that the wearer needs not be self-conscious and reduces the temptation to touch the face. Furthermore, the micronized mineral formula is healthy and soothing every skin type.

“There’s so much I appreciate,” she notes, “Mineral Air goes on in seconds, dries faster and layers seamlessly. It works compatibly with other color cosmetics also. Remarkably too, the coverage lasts forever. I’ve seen celebrities seven hours after my Mineral Air application and they still look polished and amazing. And in this era of Covid, I–and my clientele–love that Mineral Air is touchless.”

“If my cosmetic application disappears and what you see is skin, I’ve done my job,” Wei Lang concludes. “I don’t want audiences to remember the makeup, I want them to remember the remarkable people who are wearing it.”

What’s the difference?

Mineral Air offers two device-plus-formula categories, one for makeup, the other for skincare.
Mineral Air original (MA) includes its AirMist Device, an easy to use, everyday consumer tool that rivals professional airbrushing in its cosmetic application of our eponymous foundation, blush, or bronzer.
Mineral Air Skin (MAS) features the Renewal Serum System with its ElixerMist Device for lightweight vaporized delivery.
