Post-Derm Treatment Seeing Is Believing with Mineral Air Makeup

Post-Derm Treatment Seeing Is Believing with Mineral Air Makeup

Cosmetic Consultant Shirley Sherman, doyenne of the luxury dermatology practice AVA MD in Beverly Hills, notes that many of their patients were indifferent to Mineral Air . . . until they tried it. Now they’re loyal advocates.

When patients of the Beverly Hills practice of renowned dermatologist Ava Shamban, MD need personal advice about available treatments delivering best results, they turn to cosmetic consultant Shirley Sherman. She’s positioned right up front of the office, available to dispense skin rejuvenation wisdom and product recommendations for those who seek it.

“Dr. Shamban operates four businesses total, including this one,” Shirley explains. “These include two AVA MD dermatology practices, in Beverly Hills and in Santa Monica at St. John’s Hospital and two tech-based, non-medical SKIN FIVE locations, one in Century City and the other in Pacific Palisades. At AVA MD, we offer an extensive selection of injectable, laser, radiofrequency, micro-needling and ultrasound skin rejuvenation technologies. At SKIN FIVE we offer non-invasive face and body treatments all based on technologies including Emsculpt (body contouring), Emtone (smoothing cellulite) and Vivace (microneedling plus radiofrequency). Overall, we like to think of ourselves as delivering the latest in cutting edge rejuvenation treatments but with none of the cutting.”

Like most high-end dermatology practices, AVA MD only sells product lines from professional or pharmaceutical brands to support the aftercare of their treatments. What the practice does not sell is makeup. But what originally attracted them to Mineral Air was the ability for providers to quickly mist on a flawless, airbrushed and camera-ready look immediately post-treatment that erased all traces of redness. The fact it was touchless was a big plus too.

AVA MD and SKIN FIVE began carrying Mineral Air about two years ago. Shirley reports that even the most product-enthusiastic patients were initially indifferent to it because they didn’t understand it. “Then we started giving Mineral Air touch ups after non-ablative (that is, those that do not break or peel the skin) treatments for patients who needed to carry on with their day,” she says. From there, Mineral Air systems sold themselves.

Shirley’s favorite Mineral Air story is that a patient came in for filler injections. Afterwards, her practitioner touched up her skin with a quick mist of Mineral Air’s Four-in-One Foundation. “Five minutes after she left,” Shirley remembers, “she called from the car saying she was loving how her face looked in the rear view mirror because of Mineral Air. Five minutes after that, she was back at the front desk buying a system of her own.”

What’s the difference?

Mineral Air offers two device-plus-formula categories, one for makeup, the other for skincare.
Mineral Air original (MA) includes its AirMist Device, an easy to use, everyday consumer tool that rivals professional airbrushing in its cosmetic application of our eponymous foundation, blush, or bronzer. Mineral Air Skin (MAS) features the Renewal Serum System with its ElixerMist Device for lightweight vaporized delivery.

“What originally attracted us to Mineral Air was the ability for our providers to quickly mist on a flawless, airbrushed and camera-ready look immediately post-treatment that erased all traces of redness. The fact it was touchless was a big plus too.”
